I like to look up into the Heavens and imagine my Anthony Paul up there looking down, watching over us. When I decided to do his third Angelversary page, I decided that I wanted the Heavens included. To our surprise, Aunt Toni and Grandma Helen bought a star for our Anthony Paul honoring his life with us. I am including some of the information below so that you may find his star if you wish. Please leave your name in our guestbook letting us know you visited.

The celestial body in the sky above has been named in honor of Anthony Paul Wodzinski, and is offically located in the constellation Orion. This star's astronomically verified position is Right Ascension 6:07:33.0, Declinatoin -1:26:20, Magnitude 10.57 The Star Foundation has officially recorded this in the Archives at The Star Foundation headquarters. Up to 25% of the proceeds from this star were donated to Toys for Tots.

Mythology of the Constellation Orion Orion was a powerful figure - strong, handsome and possessing great prowess as a hunter. Whilst visiting the isle of Chios, he fell in love with Merope, a granddaughter of the god Dionysis. Her father, Oenopion, agreed to their marriage on condition that Orion firt rid the island of all dangerous beasts. This he did, but Oenopion made further excuses as to why the marriage should not take place. An exasperated Orion drank a great deal of potent wine and, under its influence, attacked Merope. Oenopion was furious at this attack on his daughter and whilst Orion was still drunk and helpless, blinded him. Orion sought the assistance of an oracle and was told that he had to travel to the East to seek the Sun's morning rays in order to recover his sight. After many adventures, including a meeting iwth Vulcan, blacksmith to the gods, on the island of Lemnos, he finally met the Sun god Helios and was given back his sight.

Star Locating Directions Right Ascension and Declination Right Ascesion (abbreviated R.A.) and Declination (abbreviated Dec) are a system of coordinates used by astronomers to keep track of where stars and galaxies are in the sky. They are similar to the system of "longitude" and "latitude" used on the Earth. Declination is measured in degrees and refers to how far above the imaginary "clestial equator" an object is (e.g. latitude on Earth). Declination, like latitude, is measured as ) degrees at the equator, +90 degrees at the North Pole and -90 degrees at the South Pole. Right Ascension measures the other part of a star's positioin. It is similar to longitude on the Earth. Right Ascension is measured in hours of time. This is convenient for astronomers because, as the Earth rotates, stars appear to rise and set just like the Sun. Just as latitude and longitude uniquely identify the positions of cities on Earth, Right Ascesion and Declination uniquely identify the position of stars and galaxies in the sky.
